Persistence & Patience

This afternoon I was heading out for a walk, as I like to do as much as possible…… walking out in fresh air gets my creative brain working! As I enjoy this, what is suppose to be winter at 60 degrees (believe me I’m not complaining!), I began to think of my desire for immediate results. I put in the hard work, I get out of my comfort zone and take risks, I work towards my goals daily, I make a plan and am consistent, disciplined, and PERSISTENT, yet It hit me that I lack patience. This is the missing link in my daily life thoughts.  I must practice PATIENCE with all of the above. I began to realize also that because I lacked the patience it takes to reach that goal, negative thoughts came trickling in. We all tend to get a little discouraged when we hit a road block or we may even feel a little beat up by our consistent hard work and no immediate results. But than I remembered that Nothing good ever happens overnight. There is no such thing as overnight success. I must keep on keeping on, till I get to where I want to be. Staying persistent is important but being patient is just as important. Patience is worth practicing!

“Patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet.” Aristotle

“Patience is not the ability to wait. Waiting is a fact of life. Patience is the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.” Joyce Meyers

Who I Want To Be

I’m a women who has made many mistakes, took many risks, failed a lot, lived in the moment, hardly thought of my future, found success when I gave it just one more try, been to hell and back at least a dozen times, loves to laugh and find joy in the simple things, finds it necessary for “alone” time. Music moves me, the theater inspires me and dance awakens me.

Who I want to be? In this next chapter of my life…. if I had another fifty years…. I would be me all over again only a better version of me. I would be more accepting of my mistakes, failures, insecurities. I would listen more to my inner self, my intuition. I would care less what people think who care nothing about me. I would continue to pursue my goals, dreams, and face my obstacles with courage. I won’t allow defeat crush my spirit but fuel me. I will continue to strive to be better, do better, give more, be present, and connect. Most importantly, I will never ever try to be someone I’m not just to fit in.  EVER.

Hello! I have no real excuse except for…… well, an excuse of course. I’m trying out new things as I quickly approach the big 5ohhhhhhhhhhhh! Yup it’s just around the corner and by around the corner I mean next week. LOL

So I created a list of what I must do while I’m in my fifties, and preferably by my fifty fifth birthday. It’s what I like to refer to as my “Bucket List.” I must say this list is personal, but I will share as I check them off. Ok I’ll share one……

So, I’m challenging myself to get out of my comfort zone which is pretty scary! Sooooooo being the introvert that I am makes public speaking very difficult. YIKES! Yes, Public speaking is on my list. Stay tuned my friends!! It will happen. I’ll announce the other goals that made my bucket list in the near future.

During my six month hiatus, I made some necessary changes and I moved. Moving is such a pain in the  a s s….. just saying, at my age it sucks. However, I love my new little humble hut and I adore where I live. Although, I can do without the high rent and the limited parking situation, this cute little village is convenient and adorable. It’s true what they say, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! With that said, I am forced to broaden my horizons and work work work. I still teach my fitness classes, but only now I’m at several locations. I also started a two new businesses that I am so excited about!!! I will talk more about those on my next posting. I’m putting in a lot of time on my projects yet still find it necessary to “prioritize” what’s important to me…. My faith, friends, family, exercise, making connections and good food! 🙂

New beginnings & letting go

Hello There! I started a new job! YAY!

I’m continuing my passion for health & wellness and am now employed at a major elite athletic club. I am stepping out of my comfort zone in regards to teaching in a group fitness setting. I have always been a one on one type of trainer but this is new, challenging and inspiring. I have already met some wonderful people. In doing this, I realize that my employment here will open up opportunity for bigger and better things to come.

Sometimes in starting something new it can also lead to letting go of something…… this can be anything. One door opens, another door closes. I very recently had an awakening that lead me to believe that some things just aren’t meant to be forever. Some people have a hard time letting go, especially emotionally. Life sometimes isn’t fair but we make the best with present circumstances. We are responsible for our decisions, our actions, and the words that come out of our mouth reap consequences….. good or bad. With that said, I’m letting go of stuff, things, and people that do not find value in me, appreciate me or love me for me. All toxic relationships/friendships that I have been involved with past and present have never served me well. Do they ever? Boundaries are set and I’m letting go. A new beginning has a whole “new” meaning now.

“Where you movin?” I said, “Onto better things”

“Dear Lord, I thank you for the Grace of being alive this morning; I thank you for the sleep that has refreshed me; I thank you for the chance to MAKE A NEW BEGINNING.”

“Every story has an end but in life every end is a new beginning.”

I have been inspired by a beautiful young women who I recently met. She is such an inspiration to me that I just had to share. When she walked into the room her smile was warm and energetic. Her soul is so pure and bright, it was electrifying. She is young, much younger than I, and she is confident in her body.. She spoke with elegance and strength at the same time. She had no signs of fear when speaking in front of a group of people, no signs of anxiety what so ever. She shared a story that was very touching, motivating and inspiring.

She was ridiculed for many years about her body. She was told that she wouldn’t be good enough, that she wouldn’t make the “cut”. Although that one person effected her in a bad way for a very long time, she eventually chose to get up and get moving. And boy did she!!  Long story short, she lost A LOT of weight and is highly successive today. She is no stick figure ( and I’m so glad she’s not), but is beautiful inside and out. When I say “beautiful” I mean BEAUTIFUL!! This young women is gorgeous and truly sincere. She represents what “love” is and if you met her you would agree. Her passion to inspire and encourage everyone she comes in contacts with is absolutely genuine.

I am newly inspired by people like her who have overcome major obstacles beyond there imagination. Her story set me on a path of self realization and has inspired me to jump with the risk of failing. Although my heart may pound out of my chest, I’ll get over it. One thing for sure is I wont get better at anything if I allow fear and anxiety to stop me from going for it. I must step out of my comfort zone, over and over and over again.

I had a wonderful experience with acupuncture today!

This acupuncturist took the time to LISTEN to me. She actually seemed “interested” in my life and what my health concerns were. I have had acupuncture a handful of times before, but this was by far the best one yet. I walked out of her office almost two hours later (consult was at least an hour ), with a mixture of calmness and a deer in head lights. LOL. I was no doubt on some sort of high yet I also felt like I was in a twilight zone. Weird.

As the hours passed I thought more about our conversation (mine and the acupuncturist ). She hit on a few major important issues in my life that I had a tough time accepting. Nothing drastic, not at all bad but the conversation definitely made me go….. Hmmm? I mean, in an annoying way. Why? Because I already knew of these things but what a difference it makes hearing it out loud from someone that does NOT know you personally. It was like a therapy session with needles. HAHA!

I have always believed in natural healing and Eastern medicine first before heading to a specialist that you have to wait 3 months to get an appointment…….. and than to have them NOT LISTEN or NOT CARE ……than prescribe you something that’s most likely not what you need. Now I’m not saying ALL Doctors are what I just described, but I am saying I’m beyond frustrated with health care here PERIOD. I also believe that Western medicine is great WHEN NEEDED. I do my best to be my own health advocate and I certainly don’t know everything, but I do know what works for me.

I’m absolutely making another appointment with her and will make another for my son also. By the way, his session with the acupuncturist was a week before mine. He walked out the same way I did. LOL ! I do believe in going consistently to notice any changes in the body. Although, I will say that just after one visit something good happened. 🙂

It’s amazing how our mind & body are so connected. The mind is such a powerful force. I believe it can heal or destroy…… physically and mentally.

*** What I’m saying is I think stress can destroy our bodies to the point of no return. We don’t need meds, we need to CHILL THE HELL OUT!

No but seriously, meditation, prayer, friends, family are all important for our well being. I think we have less and less of the above I just mentioned today than ever. Why? I have my thoughts on the “why” but that’s for another blog.
